Happy Valentine’s Day! (in September)

Yes, I know it is September, but I am already looking forward to Valentine’s Day.  No, it’s not simply because all of my favorite chocolates are dressed in pink and red, but more than that, I’m excited because Valentine’s Day is when Janie Lou is scheduled to become a big sister!  That’s right!  We are pregnant!

Two weeks after I resigned from my job we found out that Hergycub 2.0 was on the way!  After the shock wore off that our children will be 13 months apart, we began to get excited about having two little ones running around the house!  I think JL will be a wonderful little sister, although I don’t know if Lexi (our dog) can handle another child attempting to play with her.

I am feeling well and just beginning to show.  Carl is doing well dealing with a 9 month old and a pregnant wife.  He deserves a big hug for loving us so well through the first trimester and for being such a great help to me.

We are keeping busy as JL is now crawling everywhere, including up the stairs.  She loves music and loves to dance and play with her mini keyboard.  Her favorite person is her daddy.  It melts my heart to watch how her eyes light up and she can’t hold still when he walks in the room.  She loves to give him kisses and even said “dada” for the first time while she was riding with him.  It is such a blessing to see the bond they have.

Over the past few months, God has reminded me that He is my strength and my song!  And my theme verse for the moment is (and probably will be for the next few years!) Isaiah 40:30-31.

30     Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
31     but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
God is so good!
I’d love to hear what God is up to in your life and what you are learning!  Happy Friday!

I've been a follower of Jesus for over 30 years, and have been teaching God's Word to students and women for nearly 20 years! God has brought me through some difficult chapters in my own life, and now my passion is equipping women like you with tools to embrace your own unexpected chapters in life with grace and truth.

  1. Congrats!!!

    God taught me in my single years that He is the giver of good gifts! He is that kind of Father! He taught me that singleness was a good gift from Him! To be savored and used wisely.

    In my first 3 months of marriage now, it’s like He is saying and I still give good gifts… all the time. “Brian is a good gift to you my precious daughter!”

    I’m so thankful for my God who is so faithful to me! Overwhelmed with gratitude and thanksgiving!

    Matthew 7:11
    If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!

    What a great reminder of who God is! Thanks, Holly! In my small group right now we are reading through Genesis watching for the characteristics of God that Moses was teaching the Israelites through his writing. It has been a fun way to read through a book that I’ve read before. One theme that keeps coming up over and over is that He is the gracious judge. He sets boundaries and punishes those who violate the boundaries, but He also offers grace and hope! It is an amazing lesson to be reminded of.

    I’m so excited that God is continuing to give you good gifts, and am very happy that Brian is a gift you are enjoying! I hope to meet him one day! Have a great weekend! Go Big Red!!! 🙂
