As I walk through different seasons of life, God is always teaching me new things…and the same things over and over again. Sometimes it is frustrating learning the same lesson for the one millionth time, but I am so thankful for God’s patience and grace with me.
Currently, I am learning how to make time for God, my sweet husband, Janie Lou and myself while being a stay-at-home mom. I attended my first week of a mom’s Bible study this week and was relieved to know that every other mom in my small group was wrestling through this same issue. It was refreshing to meet other women who are in the trenches of life figuring out how to balance it all.
It has been a growing summer for me. As I left my job in June, I became a full-time mommy and wife. Honestly, this was a difficult transition for me. I LOVE WORK! I love working and having that sense of accomplishment at the end of day. I miss working. I know raising a little one is work. And in my opinion one of the most difficult jobs in the world. I have definitely grown in my respect for single parents and all stay-at-home parents. I am still working on finding purpose in my days and having that sense of accomplishment come from a knowing I loved my baby well, with the only immediate proof being a stack of dirty diapers and a sink full of bottles.
Please hear me, I love being a mom. I love Janie Lou, and I love being there when she has all of her “firsts.” I love the feeling that comes over me when she crawls across the floor to my feet, pulls herself up on the legs of my jeans, and looks up at me with her beautiful eyes and her chubby little cheeks grinning and showing off her 5 teeth. I love having snuggle time and bath time and NAP TIME!!! I love being a mom.
But I want to be honest about this transition because I’m sure there are others of you out there that feel this same way. I always want this to be a place where we can come together and share what is truly on our hearts. We have enough places in the world where we have to wear a mask, and this is not one of those places.
With all that said, God is taking me back to a verse I memorized and learned as a young child. He is teaching me again the importance of the attitude of my heart. So today, I am choosing to live out my faith with two simple verses.
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”Colossians 3:23-24
I love immediate gratification, but I need to be more focused on serving the Lord for eternity’s sake. I hope you are encouraged today, knowing that whatever you are going through, God is with you.
Will you join me in deciding today to work for the Lord and put your whole heart into your work whether it is your dream job or simply the job God has given you for this season?
I hope you will. I can’t wait to see what God does with our days as we commit them to Him and commit to serving Him with all of our hearts!
God bless you, Sweet Friends!
