Proverbs 18:10 says, “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous runs into it and is safe.”
Last night I had a few minutes to myself to just relax. So I opened up the book I mentioned in my last blog, Lord, I Want to Know You. It was refreshing and encouraging to be reminded of the truth of who God is. As some of you know, my passion is helping women discover their identity, significance and purpose in Jesus Christ. Others of you know that this year I am purposely asking God for a spirit of wisdom and revelation to know Him better. Last night I had an “ah-ha” moment as I realized how these two passions go hand-in-hand.
I realized that only as I understand who God is can I fully understand who I am, why I am significant and what my purpose is. In 2011 I really want to be an encouragement to all of my wonderful blog friends, and I want to stay focused in this blog to share truth with you. So I thought it would be fun to take you with me along my journey of discovering who God is.
I will be blogging as I complete my study of who God is. As I blog, I will share with you names that I discover, verses that support that name and how I am clinging to the truth of each specific name to my life. I will also be sharing what I learn about my identity, significance and purpose as I discover the names of God.
I hope you will join me in this journey. Remember, if you’d like to receive my blog updates in your inbox you can do so by entering your email in the “Email Subscription” box on the upper right-hand corner of the page. You can also follow me on twitter and be notified of new posts that way as well.
Finally, if you are looking for a new way to dig into God’s Word, I would encourage you to pick up a copy of Kay Arthur’s book Lord, I Want to Know You, and join me on this journey. As always, I appreciate any thoughts or reactions you have!
Here’s what I’d like to hear about today…
