It is a week to be thankful, and after the wonderful weekend I had this weekend I have so much to be thankful for. My sweet husband and I got to spend the weekend with both set of parents and my adorable grandpa. We enjoyed an early Thanksgiving feast and then we were showered with love and baby goodies yesterday at our baby shower. We are so blessed to have such wonderful families and friends.
I have realized over the past couple months that I have so much to be thankful for this year, and have a few things I should have been thankful for last year, that I wasn’t. For instance, my brain. Last year, I was not pregnant and therefore had my fully functioning brain in tact. This year, I have fallen victim to “mommy brain” or “mush brain.” Earlier this year I was having coffee with a mom who looked me straight in the eye and said, “BEWARE, when you get pregnant and have kids you will get mush brain. And you mind will NEVER be the same.” She went on to tell me that I need to start writing everything down so that when I can’t remember anything I will have a reference sheet to use. She scared me to death! But after a few days, I thought, “No, that won’t happen to me!” ha!
“Mush brain” has arrived! I don’t think like I used to, I’m very forgetful and I do more silly things than I normal without thinking.
So this year for Thanksgiving, I am not only giving thanks for the things I have, but I am also giving thanks for the things I used to have, but don’t anymore.
This week is dedicated to being thankful. So I want you to start making “Thanksgiving” list. Probably about 10 years ago, I had a pastor who challenged us to make a list of 100 things we were thankful for. It is a wonderful exercise for you to do personally, and I will be doing that very thing this week. But I thought it would be fun if we also made a Thanksgiving List together. So this week please post what you are thankful for as a comment and we’ll keep a running list. Let’s not take for granted all the wonderful gifts big and small that God has given us.
I can’t wait to hear how God has blessed you!
I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart;
I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. (Psalm 9:1, NIV)
I’ll start the list:
I am thankful for the kicking going on in my belly that reminds me of the life God is weaving together inside of me.
