Encouragement & Hope

Eagle’s Wings

28     Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
29     He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
30     Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
31     but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

One of the advantages to living in my home is hearing some really cool music being made in the studio upstairs.  Carl is currently producing an album for an artist, and one of the songs that he is producing is called “On Eagle’s Wings.”  The chorus starts, “And He will lift you up on eagle’s wings.”  Every time I hear this line these verses from Isaiah 40 come to mind.

I love the things the we learn about God in this passage.

He is the everlasting God,
The Creator of the ends of the earth
He will not grow tired or weary
His understanding no one can fathom
He gives strength to the weary
He increases the power of the weak
He renews the strength of those who hope in the Lord

Do you need to be reminded of these attributes as much as I do today?  Which of these qualities do you need to cling to today?  I encourage you to write them down on a note card or a scratch piece of paper, and put them where you can see them today.

Did you see what happens to YOUNG people?  We grow tired and weary, and we stumble and fall.  I prove this to be true on a regular basis in my life.  Whether you are young in age or young at heart, you will grow tired.  You will stumble.  But God doesn’t hit us over the head when we fall.  No, he says, “Put your hope in me!  I will renew your strength!  Thru me you will soar on wings like eagles!  Thru my strength you will run and not grow weary!  You will walk and not be faint!”

Take a few minutes to personalize verse 31:

But [when] I hope in the Lord,
I will soar on wings like eagles;
I will run and not grow weary,
I will walk and not faint.

He is the everlasting God, and He does not grow tired or weary so draw on His strength today.  You can make it through whatever you are facing today as you put your hope in the Lord.  Don’t worry about tomorrow, let’s just make it through today first.

I pray His strength will carry you through today on eagle’s wings!!
